Congratulations on your upcoming wedding! Finding the perfect venue for your special day can be a daunting task. If you’re looking for something unique and luxurious in Suffolk, why not consider checking out one of the below wedding venues? The below ‘all in one’ exclusive use venues each have so much to offer, all offering accommodation, beautiful getting ready locations, flexibility with how you can use the space available, as well as of course stunning backdrops for your photographs. These venues are all about 2 hours from London and set in and amongst the stunning Suffolk countryside. Which one is your favourite?
Just 2 hours from London and set in the stunning Suffolk countryside near Woodbridge lies the exclusive Butley Priory. Full of history and unique architecture, this gem of a venue was described by Vogue as “one of the most romantic houses in England.” The iconic Great Hall with its tall ceilings can take up to 100 guests and can be used for your ceremony or your wedding breakfast. The venue is totally flexible and has ample room for various kinds of marquees in the stunning secluded grounds.
There are 4 beautiful bedrooms in the house itself sleeping up to 13. Also offering accommodation for you and your guests is The Butley Abbey Farmhouse which is a truly remarkable and beautiful place to stay. Featuring three sitting rooms with open fires, a large dining room for up to 24 people, and 12 bedrooms (8 double and 4 twin). The Farmhouse is situated just a short walk away from the main house.
One of my favourite venues in the UK. Set just a few miles inland from the beautiful Suffolk coast, Wilderness Reserve has so much to offer. Throughout the reserve is a collection of luxury accommodation options available for you and your guests so everyone can stay onsite and you can really make a weekend of your wedding and create some unbelievable memories with your nearest and dearest. Enjoy a morning cycle ride through the reserve, swim in the sunken terraced pool and read a book overlooking the stunning rolling parkland and lakes. The house itself is a Grade II* listed Georgian country house designed by architect Decimus Burton and features the stunning Orangery.
The options are endless when it comes to planning your wedding at Wilderness. You can have your ceremony overlooking the stunning lakes, in the woodlands, in front of the iconic Sibton House or inside in the light filled Orangery.
Sibton Park Estate sleeps up to 98 guests, across 47 bedrooms in 11 properties.
Glemham Hall is a gorgeous country house located just outside Woodbridge and is surrounded by 300 acres of beautiful Suffolk parkland. With its 16th century architecture, beautiful gardens, and exclusive use, you and your guests will be sure to have an unforgettable experience. Whether you are looking for a grand celebration or an intimate gathering, Glemham Hall provides a stunning backdrop for your special day. Have your ceremony in the stunning Great Hall (pictured below) or outdoors in the Summerhouse. Considering a church ceremony? St Andrews is a beautiful church just 5 minute walk through the gardens from the hall itself.
The reception is typically held in the marquee located in the picturesque gardens and is the perfect place for dinner and dancing. It can seat 40-150 guests and a maximum of 200 in the evening.
Hengrave hall is an exclusive use venue and is located near Bury St Edmunds in West Suffolk in the picturesque village of Hengrave. This stunning Grade 1* listed Tudor mansion is set on 350 acres of beautiful gardens and countryside, you and your guests will be sure to be in awe as you approach the driveway. Plus, with its own private church (pictured below) steps away, you’ll be able to make your ceremony as romantic as an be!
Boasting many exquisite rooms there are so many options at Hengrave and various options for your ceremony, all equally stunning. Dine outside under festoon lights in the romantic courtyard (giving italian vibes!). Or enjoy your delicious wedding breakfast in the Long Gallery (seating up to 148 guests), with its stunning long windows, white panelling and crystal chandeliers – truly elegant. Having a more intimate affair? The Dining Room and Banqueting Hall can seat up to 50 people and give a more intimate and cosy feel
21 luxurious bedrooms are available for couples and their guests and further accommodation can be booked at The All Saints Hotel (the sister hotel) which is just a 4 minute drive down the road.
Wilderness Reserve offers two separate estates as wedding venues. Sibton Park Estate and Chapel Barn Estate. Both giving completely different vibes so it’s definitely worth checking out both to see what they can offer you and your guests. Both can be hired separately or together and on a 2 day or 3 day hire basis.
Chapel Barn (pictured below) is a a 15th century thatched long barn set in 600 acres of beautiful rolling countryside, just two hours from London. Within the estate are several newly finished, modern and totally luxurious accommodation options so your guests can all walk off to their rooms at the end of the night and in the morning why not let the celebrations continue with a day 2?
It is a truly unique and special place to stay. Guests can enjoy the rustic charm of the barn, and the modern amenities of the seven houses on the estate. Each house has a hot tub, and many have heated swimming pools, saunas, steam and treatment rooms. With a total of 39 bedrooms and the ability to sleep up to 80 guests across 7 properties, Chapel Barn Estate is perfect for larger groups. Enjoy the luxury of this traditional Suffolk estate with a modern twist.
